Reports about Queiroz’s exit emerged after Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign ended with a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32.

Following the elimination, Queiroz shared a message on social media in which he appeared to bid farewell to the Black Stars, thanking players, officials and supporters for their support during his tenure.
The post fuelled speculation that the experienced coach had stepped down after guiding Ghana at the World Cup.

However, Roger De Sa says he has not received any official communication confirming that Queiroz has resigned from his position.
Speaking in an interview with KickOff, the South African coach revealed that he only became aware of the reports through social media.

“I don’t know if that’s official [that he has left], I have only seen it on social media. But I don’t think that is from him because he would have told me if that’s the case,” De Sa said.
According to the assistant coach, Carlos Queiroz should still be regarded as the Black Stars head coach until the Ghana Football Association (GFA) officially announces any change.
Queiroz was appointed on a short-term basis ahead of the World Cup after replacing Otto Addo, leading Ghana through the global tournament.
The Black Stars opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Panama before holding England to a goalless draw.
Ghana then suffered a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final Group L match but still progressed to the Round of 32 before eventually losing narrowly to Colombia.

With the World Cup now over, Ghana’s attention shifts to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where the Black Stars have been drawn in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, Somalia and The Gambia.
The qualification campaign is expected to begin in September as Ghana seeks to secure a return to the continental tournament after missing out on the 2025 edition.
For now, uncertainty remains over the future of Carlos Queiroz, with the GFA yet to make an official announcement regarding the technical team’s next steps.
