CAS confirms Senegal as official winners of AFCON 2025

CAS confirms Senegal AFCON 2025 champions

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled in favour of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), confirming Senegal as the official winners of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

According to an arbitral award dated June 10, 2026, under case CAS 2026/A/10857, the three-member CAS panel upheld Senegal’s appeal in its arbitration case against the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

The ruling overturned the earlier challenged decision and declared that the result of the AFCON 2025 final, as it stood on the field of play, should remain valid.

As a result, Senegal’s senior men’s national team has officially been recognised as the champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

In its decision, CAS directed all relevant football authorities, including the Confederation of African Football (CAF), to immediately comply with the ruling and give full effect to the award.

The arbitration panel further stated that its decision is final and binding on all parties in accordance with Article R58 of the Code of Sports-related Arbitration, leaving no further avenue of appeal within the CAS framework.

The ruling brings to an end the legal dispute surrounding the outcome of the AFCON 2025 final, restoring Senegal’s status as continental champions if implemented by CAF.

The decision is expected to have significant implications for African football, as CAF and other relevant sporting bodies move to enforce the arbitration award.

With the legal battle now settled, attention is likely to shift back to football, as Senegal celebrates the confirmation of its AFCON 2025 triumph following months of uncertainty.
