“Queiroz Won’t Take Ghana Far” – Prince Tagoe Questions Black Stars Coach’s Ability After World Cup
Former Ghana international Prince Tagoe has expressed doubts about the ability of Carlos Queiroz to take the Black Stars to greater heights, despite the team’s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Tagoe, the Portuguese coach may not be the right person to lead Ghana’s long-term football ambitions, as he questioned whether Queiroz has what it takes to deliver major success with the national team.
“I don’t think Carlos Queiroz will take us far,” Tagoe stated, sharing his opinion on the future direction of the Black Stars.
Queiroz was appointed as Ghana’s head coach shortly before the 2026 World Cup and guided the team to the knockout stage of the tournament. The Black Stars reached the Round of 32 after competing in a difficult group before their campaign ended with a narrow defeat to Colombia.

The experienced Portuguese tactician brought a wealth of international experience to the role, having previously managed several national teams and featured at multiple World Cups.
However, Tagoe believes Ghana must look beyond short-term results and focus on appointing a coach capable of building a team that can compete for major trophies, particularly the Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Black Stars striker, who was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, has often shared his views on issues affecting the national team and has called for improvements in areas beyond just technical leadership.

Reports later indicated uncertainty surrounding his position after his emotional message to Ghana fans sparked speculation about his future.
