Carlos Queiroz Earns $80,000 Monthly as Black Stars Coach – Sports Minister

Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has disclosed that Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz earns a monthly salary of $80,000, dismissing widespread reports that the Portuguese tactician takes home $100,000 every month. 

Speaking in an interview, the Minister clarified that speculation surrounding Queiroz’s salary had been inaccurate since the former Portugal, Iran, Egypt and Colombia coach was appointed to lead Ghana ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Kofi Adams, the Black Stars coach receives $80,000 per month, not the $100,000 figure that had been widely circulated.

“Carlos Queiroz earns $80,000 a month, not the $100,000 that had been speculated,” the Minister stated. 

Carlos Queiroz was appointed following the departure of Otto Addo, although the financial details of his contract were not publicly disclosed at the time, leading to months of speculation over his remuneration. 

Under the experienced Portuguese coach, Ghana reached the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the first time since the country’s memorable run at the 2010 tournament.

The Black Stars recorded a victory over Panama, played out a goalless draw with England and suffered a narrow defeat to Croatia in the group stage before exiting the competition after a 1-0 loss to Colombia in the Round of 32. 

Despite Ghana’s elimination, Queiroz’s performance has reportedly impressed both the government and the Ghana Football Association, with reports suggesting that discussions are ongoing over a possible two-year contract extension. 

The Black Stars are now expected to shift their attention to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they will be aiming to secure qualification and end the country’s long wait for continental success.
