“He Can Destroy Defenders One-on-One” – Ipswich Boss Excited About Ghana Star Fatawu Issahaku

Ipswich Town manager Gary O’Neil has praised Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, highlighting his ability to challenge defenders and create problems in one-on-one situations following his move to the Premier League club.

The Ghana international recently completed his transfer from Leicester City to Ipswich Town on a five-year deal, with the club viewing him as an important addition to their attacking options ahead of the new season. 

Speaking about the qualities Fatawu brings to his squad, O’Neil described the 22-year-old as a player with strong physical and technical attributes who is confident on the ball and capable of testing opponents individually.

“He can test the opposition in one-on-one situations,” the Ipswich manager said, emphasising the winger’s ability to beat defenders and provide attacking threat from wide areas. 

Fatawu joins Ipswich after an impressive spell with Leicester City, where he established himself as one of Ghana’s brightest young attacking talents. His pace, direct running and creativity made him a key figure for the Foxes before his move. 

The winger was also part of Ghana’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring in all four matches as the Black Stars reached the Round of 32. 

For Ipswich, the signing represents a major statement as the club prepares for life in the Premier League. The club believes Fatawu’s attacking qualities can provide more depth, speed and unpredictability in the final third.
