TikToker Jailed for Claiming Mahama Sacrificed 32 Cows to Win 2024 Election

Ghanaian TikToker Camilla Alhassan has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Accra Circuit Court after pleading guilty to charges of offensive conduct and the publication of false news.

Alhassan was arrested after posting videos on social media in which she falsely claimed that President John Dramani Mahama sacrificed 32 cows as part of ritual activities to secure victory in the 2024 general elections.
The allegations, which were circulated online, were made without any supporting evidence and attracted widespread public attention.

Following her arrest, prosecutors charged the TikToker with offensive conduct and publication of false news.
Appearing before the Accra Circuit Court, Alhassan pleaded guilty to the charges brought against her.
The court subsequently convicted her and sentenced her to one year of imprisonment.
