Dennis Miracles Aboagye denies EOCO’s GH¢55 million allegation after release

Former Communications Director for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 presidential campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has accused the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) of putting out what he describes as a false narrative following his recent arrest.
Aboagye made the remarks after regaining his freedom on bail, insisting that the allegations circulated after his detention did not reflect what transpired during his engagement with investigators.

Following arrest of Dennis Miracles, EOCO had indicated in a statement that he was being investigated over the alleged misappropriation of GH¢55 million.
He was subsequently granted bail in the sum of GH¢50 million with three sureties, two of whom are to be justified.
Reacting in a social media post after his release, Aboagye rejected claims that he was questioned over any GH¢55 million.
“FOR THE RECORDS: THERE WAS NO Discussion OF ANY GHc55million cedis with me by EOCO. None!!!” he wrote.
According to him, the narrative surrounding his arrest was deliberately created to damage his reputation, especially after he announced his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He further claimed that the attempt to intimidate him had failed.
“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he stated.
Aboagye also expressed gratitude to party supporters, the NPP leadership and his legal team for standing by him throughout the period of his detention.
He said the encouragement he received from party faithful who protested and spoke publicly in his defence strengthened his resolve.

The NPP communicator maintained that he remains committed to contesting for the party’s National Communications Director position and pledged to lead the party’s communications machinery if elected.
EOCO is yet to publicly respond to Aboagye’s latest claims regarding the circumstances surrounding his arrest and the allegations he has disputed.
The matter is expected to proceed through the legal process as investigations continue.
