51-Year-Old Man Arrested After Allegedly Confessing Live on Radio to Defiling 14-Year-Old Girl

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 51-year-old man after he allegedly admitted during a live radio programme to defiling a 14-year-old girl.

According to reports shared on Lawson TV, the alleged incident occurred after the suspect sent the victim, who had recently completed Junior High School (JHS), on an errand to purchase prepaid mobile credit.

The victim’s parents, who appeared on the programme, said they became suspicious after learning about the alleged incident and decided to verify the claims by arranging a phone conversation between their daughter and the suspect.

According to the parents, they listened in on the conversation in an attempt to establish the truth.

“I asked my child to call him because I wanted to confirm whether the allegation was true. During the conversation, it appeared that he admitted to the alleged offence,” one of the parents recounted.

Following the broadcast, the Ghana Police Service arrested the suspect to assist with investigations.

Police say the suspect remains in custody and will be processed in accordance with the law as investigations continue.

The case has generated widespread concern, with many Ghanaians calling for swift justice and stronger protection for children against sexual abuse.

Authorities have urged the public to report suspected cases of child abuse to the police or relevant child protection agencies to ensure victims receive the necessary support and perpetrators are brought to justice.
