Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has expressed confidence in Ghana’s chances ahead of Saturday’s Round of 32 clash against Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Ayew, the players have complete trust in the tactical approach of head coach Carlos Queiroz and are ready to execute the game plan.
“Colombia are a top side, and it’s going to be a difficult game, but I’m confident about the tactics the manager has told us. I think we will be ready for the challenge, so there is no problem about that,” Ayew said.
The match marks Ghana’s first appearance in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup since the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals in South Africa in 2010. It will also be the first-ever competitive meeting between Ghana and Colombia.
The Black Stars booked their place in the Round of 32 after finishing among the tournament’s best third-placed teams in Group L. Ghana opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Panama, played out a goalless draw against England before suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final group match.
Colombia, meanwhile, progressed as winners of Group K after an unbeaten campaign, recording two victories and a draw, including a hard-fought stalemate against Portugal.
With a place in the Round of 16 at stake, Ayew has urged his teammates to remain focused, reminding them that there is no room for mistakes in the knockout phase.
The winner of Saturday’s encounter will face Switzerland in the Round of 16 as both nations chase a place among the final 16 teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup
