Haruna Iddrisu Urges Police to Arrest Bole SHS Teacher Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Bole SHS teacher misconduct

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has called on the Ghana Police Service to intensify efforts to locate and arrest a teacher of Bole Senior High School accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct involving a student.

The Minister described the alleged incident as “unacceptable and shameful”, stressing that swift action must be taken to ensure the suspect faces the full consequences of the law if found guilty.

Speaking at the 2026 GALOP National School Awards on Thursday, July 9, Haruna Iddrisu said the Ministry of Education was closely monitoring developments surrounding the case and expected the police investigation to be conducted professionally.

“The incident in Bole is unacceptable and shameful. So, the Police, we are watching you and how you proceed with the investigation and how you go further to prosecution to deter that unacceptable behaviour and conduct of a teacher,” he said.

Reports indicate that the teacher has allegedly left the area following the incident, with claims that he may have moved towards neighbouring border communities.

The Education Minister urged the police to work diligently to ensure the suspect is found and brought before the appropriate authorities.

According to him, teachers occupy positions of trust and are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, especially when dealing with students under their care.

Beyond the Bole Senior High School case, Mr Iddrisu directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to take firm action against all forms of indiscipline within schools.

He noted that misconduct involving both teachers and students must be addressed through appropriate disciplinary measures to protect the integrity of Ghana’s education system.

The Minister emphasised that individuals whose actions fall below expected professional and behavioural standards must face the necessary sanctions.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service has reportedly suspended the payment of the teacher’s salary after he failed to report to duty following the allegations.

Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the matter as efforts are made to locate the teacher and determine the next steps in the case.
