Adwoa Safo went to Kwabenya to seek postponement of ceremony – Kwadwo Safo Jnr

Kwadwo Safo Junior has stated that he and his sister, former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo, never intended to challenge their late father’s choice of successor when they visited a family residence in Kwabenya.

Speaking about the events leading up to the incident, he explained that their objective was simply to request that organisers postpone the planned coronation ceremony until all members of the family could be present.

“Everyone knows that I go almost everywhere with Adwoa Safo,” he said while recounting the circumstances surrounding the visit.

According to Kwadwo Safo Junior, his sister contacted him before the meeting and instructed him to inform their other siblings about the planned gathering.

“When she called to tell me she was going there, she said, ‘Kwadwo, contact our other siblings and let them know we are meeting there. We all agreed that whatever decision our father made regarding his successor, we would stand by it,’” he stated.

He stressed that the family had no intention of opposing the wishes of their late father and was prepared to support whoever had been selected as successor.

“Whoever he chose, we would be the ones to enstool that person, gather around them, and take a photograph together because it was our father who made that choice,” he added.

Kwadwo Safo Junior further explained that their concern centred on timing rather than the choice itself. He said some siblings were absent and preparations were still underway for the late Apostle’s 40-day funeral observance, making it inappropriate, in their view, to proceed with the ceremony.

“My sister called and said, ‘Kwadwo, let us go there and tell them that since some of our siblings are absent, it would not be appropriate to proceed,’” he recounted.

His comments come amid ongoing public interest in developments within the Safo family following events surrounding the succession process and related disputes.
