Three schools have been closed due to suspected COVID-19 case in the Northren Cape

The Northern Cape Department of Education has confirmed that three schools have been closed with immediate effect due to suspected Covid-19 cases.Zingisani Primary School and Carnavon High School in the Pixley Ka Seme District as well as Beacon Primary School in the Frances Baard District are schools affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Education, MEC Mac Collen Jack said they will only consider to reopen the schools once they have satisfied themselves with the results of the contact traces.

Department of Health it’s said to provide guidance on the matter, whilst affected schools are being disinfected.

“We commend the swift action by the Department of Health in the early detection of COVID-19 cases in schools and we will continue to strengthen our collaborative efforts against this invisible enemy. It is clear that the systems and measures we have in place, acts as an early alert system to curb the spread of the Coronavirus. Our primary preventative measures in place at all school are on par as we confront this global pandemic” said Jack.

The department of education has urged educators, parents and learners of the affected schools to stay calm and continue to practice good hygiene, as they attend to the suspected covid-19 cases.
