10 Ways To Protect Yourself From Coronavirus

The Coronavirus is fast spreading and the alarming statistics behind it has made fear gripped all of us. As it stands now, Nigeria, Togo and Cameroun have confirmed isolated cases already and the fear here in Ghana is that it will soon pop up in just a matter of time.
The World Health Organization and other health agencies recommend some basic protective measures against the new coronavirus some of which we have outlined below:
1. Washing your hands frequently
Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
2. Maintain social distancing
Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouthWhy? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.
4. Practice respiratory hygiene
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately. A face mask will provide an additional layer of protection, especially in public.

10.  As much as possible avoid parties, crowded religious, ceremonial and official gathering, especially in areas with confirmed cases, also take additional measures to protect babies and children.
